West Coast Take on Shabby Chic

Shabby chic decor is a design niche I could never fully embrace. I have always been able to appreciate certain pieces or how someone styled a room, but I could never incorporate shabby chic elements in my own home. Or so I thought, until I visited a furniture shop in Freeport. Illinois and was acquainted with the west coast version of shabby chic.

Napa Valley Salvage Co., styles their re-imagined vintage furniture in the method of west coast shabby chic. Instead of simply painting and distressing, they also add textures of unexpected materials and utilize soft or natural colors. This gives their pieces a modern feeling that enables this style to be inserted into most home decor, even those that may not be otherwise categorized as shabby chic.

In addition to their ever changing inventory, Napa Valley will be launching a line of their own paint. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for the launch date and you will be able to order some of the wonderful colors that are showcased in their pieces.

Have a piece that you would love to shabby chic-ify, but are hesitant to do it yourself? Napa Valley also does custom work on furniture you already own. They will work with you to help make your piece perfect!

There were some pieces that caught my eye during our visit, but unfortunately I just didn't have room in our vehicle to bring it home or a space at home yet. However, I will be excited to find something special for baby #2's {this is NOT an announcement!} nursery.

Vi ses senare!
